City living brings its own unique challenges: discrete city pieds-a-terre, sophisticated apartments, or penthouse living. My projects have ranged from large penthouse properties in Dublin 4, to original Victorian and Georgian properties requiring the respect of conservation architects and builders.
This diversity is a wonderful opportunity to work on unique properties. Dublin still has a wealth of talented craftspeople and conservationists. Relationships and friendships have been forged over years of collaboration.
Regardless of location, the process from design to completed fit-out of a property is the same. Design work is carried out alongside the project architects or, if the project does not require an architect, all electrical and mechanical drawings are produced from my office if requested by the client. Communication with all site contractors is established from the beginning of the project, and continues with regular site meetings. Project management is carried out in conjunction with the construction team, and all projects are supervised to completion.
All advice on structural or construction elements of a project are provided by the relevant experts, not by the interior designer. I do however work alongside this team to ensure that our installation is streamlined with the construction elements and that the program of work is as seamless as possible.
